What our clients are saying

“You have been sheer joy! Thank you for loving and taking such care of our little one. Your knowledge has added much needed structure to our schedule and we are all forever grateful. From the minute you walked in the door that first night I know it was a match made in heaven. We thank you for allowing us the gift of a good night sleep. If God should bless us with another...you’re the first person we’ll call.”

“Not only did Rita take excellent care of our baby; she also cared for us. She was mindful of how we were doing with this big change in our life and sensitive to the challenges that can come with breastfeeding. She encouraged us to get as much rest as possible. We were able to get some sleep on the nights with Rita - a true gift to first time parents - and recharge enough to tackle the longer nights without her. She even advised me on how to advocate for having a medical concern checked out when I was worried, but more likely to ignore my own health issues -  in early postpartum.”
Brittany Sandler
“When it comes to finding someone to help with your newborn child, it is one of the most important decisions you can make as a new parent. There is extreme pressure in finding someone to help with your most precious gift. Our search was lengthy, and we were not willing to settle one bit, as no parent should. When we found Rita’s services, our prayers were answered. She was extremely knowledgeable about newborns. Her personality was just what we were hoping it would be! Once she was introduced to our little girl, she was amazing! She was so good with her, they formed a bond immediately. We had found the best!”

Baby Nurse is a term that is most commonly used to refer to newborn care specialists.

Professional Newborn Care offers a comprehensive list of services designed to meet the needs of a wide range of clients:

  • Bathing (sponge bath) for the first two weeks
  • Teaching parents burping techniques
  • Dressing and swaddling
  • Circumcision care
  • Assisting with breast feeding, and bottle feeding at parents request
  • Helping mother and baby with any breastfeeding problems
  • Teaching new moms how to set up a breast pump and store breast milk
  • Establishing a feeding and sleeping routine
  • Soothing your baby’s colicky discomfort and acid reflux
  • Helping parents transition to parenthood
  • Maintaining and caring for the nursery

A typical newborn is awake and in need of care for several hours every night. For this reason, a Newborn Specialist, sometimes called a night Nanny or Baby Nurse, offers many benefits. A Newborn Specialist allows the mother to recover from the physical and emotional rigors of childbirth while the rest of the family catches up on their sleep as well. During the first months of your baby’s life, a Baby Nurse will gently guide your infant to sleep through the night, wean your baby off the nighttime feeds altogether, and calmly help your baby to sleep independently. Parents can rest easy knowing that their infant is in nurturing, capable hands while learning to sleep through the night. Whether you opt for service a few nights a week, a month, or more; the most important thing a Baby Nurse provides is deep, restorative sleep. This is crucial for all parents, whether they work outside the home or are a stay at home parent. Either way, a good night’s sleep allows families to enjoy and cherish their time, rather than just "get through the day."

No. “Baby Nurse” is a term meaning infant care specialist. Baby Nurses provide non-medical care for your baby. However, some of our Baby Nurses are CNAs or LVNs.

Generally, the Baby Nurse arrives the day you come home from the hospital or the next day. She will be available for you two weeks before and after your due date. When you come home from the hospital, the Baby Nurse is ready and waiting to meet you, your family, and your newborn. The Baby Nurse is ready to begin serving your postpartum needs, as well as the needs of your baby.

Baby Nurses are available to meet your needs. We can arrange for you to have either an 8, 10, or 12 hour shift - day or night - to meet mother’s and baby’s needs. On average, a Baby Nurse can work anywhere from two weeks to six months. Our Baby Nurses will stay as long as it takes to ensure that you and your family are confident and knowledgeable about caring for your precious newborn.

If you are not a first-time parent, you may have some concerns about how a Baby Nurse will interact with your older children, but there is no need to worry. Our Baby Nurses are wonderful with older children and often find ways to include them in the care and interaction with your newborn.

We suggest setting a range. We only require that you fulfill the minimum amount of time that you specify on the contract, with our minimum time being two weeks. In most cases, you are able to extend past what you’ve written on the contract, especially if you are able to give one to two weeks advanced notice. We recommend booking as soon as possible, as the schedules often fill up quickly.

Our minimum is two weeks of care; however, some families will request services for up to one 1 year. Once you no longer require a Baby Nurse and would like to transition to a Nanny, please contact Professional Newborn Care about our Nanny placement services.
